The extra few inches in Premium Economy made all the difference on my flight back from Japan last weekend. As someone who never checks bags, one thing I don’t understand is why don’t airlines charge me to carry on? The overhead space shortage seems obviously like a pricing problem.
I occasionally fly for day trips, most recently to Ottawa and Boston. Not having any luggage, I fly in the cheapest class, for which even carry-on luggage is disallowed
So they do charge for it... But clearly not enough
Similar to the hotel market! Consumers always choose the lowest price hotel, while resort fee is hidden!
